New Orleans Vote '06, part 2

Incumbent mayor Ray Nagin wins.

You know what I wish? I wish we could get local stations from other markets besides WGN, which everybody and their half-godnephew's pet hyena recieves. Why not make it easier to catch up on the local news that affects New Orleans, or even Rae, or Laura, or Russ?

OK, I'm getting mildly creepy, now. End of post.

Hey! Quitcher knockin' on mid-size markets, young lady! :p I used to live in Sacramento (Sac State). I wonder if you get 3, 10 or 13 from there, seeing as Sac is the next market west of you (and in fact shares a couple counties---ones that extend from Sac County to either the lake or Reno/Sparks, i forget which). But then Sac has all the glamor of Boise or Spokane. :p SF rocks, though. I've been on that ferry that crashed recently. Would've been interesting to hear KPIX-5's take on it. I do like megametro news. Huge cities don't even try to be awesome like other cities do.

I would love to have a choice of, say, 5 markets on cable/dish that you could choose to get the local feed. Until then I guess we'll have to be happy with the local station website or RSS feed on MyYahoo or the like. That's how we keep up with our daughter in Hershey (not far from your neck of the woods!!)

Yeah, I've been over there. I Greyhounded to Harrisburg for a soccer match between Pittsburgh's team and theirs (2 divisions below MLS). Hershey is only 12 Mi from Hbg, so the city buses (CAT) there serve Hershey as well, so I went there for the morning (not the factory, though, just the residential area, but I did see the monorail and the tower with the lift---which almost looks like Sea World Tower in SD). Then I went back to Harrisburg and explored. HBG is absolutely lovely, as long as it's comparitive urban nature doesn't turn you off. I like the greenish domed capitol bldg. I like the strawberry cow, and I like the walkway along the river. The Hbg. City Islanders play on City Island, in the middle of the river, next to the putt putt course, which is lovely. I love central PA in general. I need to get back out there.

Ahhh. I'll have to check that out. I'm all over the place, usually. CNN or Fox News mostly. Whichever is less annoying at the time, but if not, then:
KDKA, WTAE, and WPXI

Ha! Our news would at least give you a few good laughs at rednecks who have very little grammer skills!
